How to look like your dog

So you know how people are supposed to look like their dogs?

 

Well… we have two daxies, Frank and Noodle, who are naturally the most gorgeous dogs in the world!

 

Frank, aka “The great gecko hunter”, is a beautiful, tan colored gentle soul – except towards geckos of course.  He has tremendous patience and will sit and practice mesmerising geckos off the walls and ceilings for hours.  I always secretly identified with Frank the most; not due to his hunting prowess or anything, but rather due to his rather impressive and imperial nose!  Frank has had a bit of a bad year too; he had a back op a few months ago so he and I have been in recovery together.

 

Now Noodle, our sleek black daxie, aka “The great Avo Hunter”, should more aptly be named Cannelloni or Macaroni due to her shape.  She is a great character with amazing problem solving skills and impressive hearing – she can hear an avo falling out of our tree from great distances and get to it in a single bound (I’m sure that’s how she sees it!).  She is also a true miniature dachshund as despite her avo shaped body she has smaller facial features and a really small head!

 

So looking in the mirror on Saturday afternoon, after my head shave, and seeing myself without a halo of hair, the first thing I thought is how much I look just like Noodle!  My ears are quite sticky-outy and I have a tiny head!  No wonder I loved the 80’s when it was all about big hair and big hair “bubbles”.  I am totally out of proportion with no hair!  Sadly the only thing chemo hasn’t done is made the rest of my body shrink in size!

 

So now I will never be able to tease Noodle about her out of proportion shape cos I can just hear her thinking something about pots, kettles and them all being black!
